T-Shirt Design

Here is the first illustration project i ever did. We had to create 2 T-shirt designs, i did a his and hers t-shirt. The woman's shirt is a heather gray with white orchids, and the mens t-shirt is a light caramel/beige color with a bonsai tree. The theme is "Shangri-La." First i drew a oriental inspired landscape with prisma color markers, then covered it with wax paper to give a misty look. Then i cut out the t-shirt designs and placed them on top of the wax paper to make them pop. I used my computer to type "Shangri-La" in the font and size i wanted, printed it out, traced it with tracing paper, placed the tracing paper under the wax paper, then used a fine-point permanent sharpie to copy it onto the wax paper.

Visual Merchandising: Window Display

This project i did 2 years ago. We had to come up with a window display that represented the company  and products that were displayed in it. My group chose to create an AVEDA window. We felt that a natural, outdoors, forest feel went well with the products we displayed.

Here are a few photos....

Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign Apparel Board

Last spring i took a computer aided design class where i learned how to make my own digital prints, create technical flats and croquis figures, create design boards, and brochures all in adobe cs4 photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Here is one of the boards i made....

The print on the bermuda shorts i created in photoshop. I used a picture i had taken of a leaf, uploaded it to photoshop and altered it from there and used it in my designs. It is also used in the lining of the blazers. i also created the plaid in photoshop, which is used on the red vest.

Here is a larger view of the high-waisted trousers and the plaid print i created...

Here is a flat illustration of the vest without color...

First Apparel Illustrations

Here are some illustrations from my first project, inspired by the Edwardian Period. I had just leaned how to draw fashion figures and work with Prisma Color markers, so the illustrations are not as crisp as would like, but i am working on getting better. i used a lot of sheers, lightweight suiting materials, and some leather and swede.

Name of Apparel line

Red satin or silk dress with a sheer red overlay on skirt and sheer sleeves, white leather belt, gray swede stripe down back where the gathers from the skirt connect

Black pinstripe tuxedo suit, white leather cummerbund, sheer red top with ruffle collar and sleeves

Grey plaid suiting (possible addition of gray swede), white leather detailing on the lapel, tuxedo pants with white leather stripe. Sheer purple keyhole top.

Dress: Sheer navy blue top half with flowing sleeves, connected to either a silk or satin skirt. Vest: Gray swede with cutouts at shoulder, white leather detailing at waist, closure at waist

Apparel Company Project

One of the projects i worked on last fall for an apparel industry and fashion illustration class was developing out own individual companies. We had to come up with a company name, target market, business plan, 6 garment illustrations, technical flats, and fabric samples.

I have always had a love for history and period clothing, so i decided to create my company with this theme in mind. I wanted to take different time periods/eras in history and modernize them; make them a little edgy. I came up with the name, B.C....HERSTORY...A.D.   The first line i came up with and illustrated was inspired by Roman Gladiators and ancient Greece. I drew upon the movies Gladiator and Troy for my inspiration. I wanted this line to be geared toward strong, independent woman who want to make a statement. So I played a lot with different textures. I love the juxtaposition of leather, and different types of hardware, with soft fabrics like chiffon, silk, etc.

Here are the illustrations with flats, and fabric samples. Sorry the pictures aren't the greatest.
